Erin Gleason
Artist Statement
My work focuses on natural environmental landscapes and our impact on it. Our every day actions
all have consequences, good and bad. Through my photography I document the negative impacts
on the environment in comparison to landscapes that appear void of human impact to start a
conversation about our actions. These images bring awareness of our actions and provide us with a choice.
My work is made in efforts to preserve nature while providing visual documentation to help change our actions.
Through my practice, I try to use the most sustainable products, minimizing my impact on our
environment. For myself, the important part of photography is about the experience, the moment
of capturing the photograph, and being in the environment. I believe nature is essential for all of us
and I want to help protect and preserve it.
